Global pandemic coronavirus continues to wreak havoc around the globe across almost all industries. This effect is having some unintended consequences along with ripples across almost all aspects of life. According to new information, two major game developers have pushed back the launch of their AAA game titles. Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) just confirmed that the launch of The Last of Us Part 2 and Ghost of Tsushima has been delayed due to coronavirus. The Last of Us Part 2, Ghost of Tsushima delayed; details
According to the statements from SIE, and the game developers, both the games are about 1-2 months away from launch. Naughty Dog, the developer for The Last of Us Part 2 is set to launch the game on June 19. Earlier, the developer had scheduled the launch for May 29 before delaying it indefinitely at the beginning of the month. Beyond this, Sucker Punch, the developer for Ghost of Tsushima also stated that it will launch the game on July 17. This new date is about a month away from the previous June 26 launch date. The head of worldwide studios at SIE, Hermen Hulst also issued a statement while revealing the delay on the PlayStation blog. Hulst noted that the company is observing “ease in the global distribution environment”. He also congratulated both the game studios for reaching “the finish line under these circumstances”. Hulst also thanked the PlayStation community for their patience and support as part of the statement. One should not that The Last of Us Part 2 and Ghost of Tsushima are not the only delays. Games including Iron Man VR, New World, Wasteland 3, Death Stranding for PC, and Cyberpunk 2077 have also been delayed.
